China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., Ltd. (CTGR, ticker: SSE 600905) announced that the H6 (400,000 kW) offshore wind power project in Rudong, Jiangsu Province, funded and built by its alternative energy arm China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., went into operation on November 29, making it CTG’s another major achievement in constructing a GW-level offshore wind power base in Jiangsu region. The Rudong project is also of great significance for the exploration of large-capacity, long-distance offshore wind power technology.
The Rudong project plans to build two offshore wind farms, H6 and H10, each with 100 4-MW wind turbines. The generated electricity will be transmitted through the flexible DC transmission cable featuring higher voltage class and longer transmission distance than any other counterpart in China. Flexible DC transmission, the most cutting-edge power transmission technology in the world, can address the deficiencies found in traditional long-distance AC power transmission.
